Got questions about pet grooming? We've taken the time to answer some of the most common ones we receive here in our office.
My cat grooms himself. Why would he need professional grooming?
Cats are known for being extremely clean creatures, spending a good portion of their days grooming themselves. However, there are spots that even the most flexible of cats cannot reach. Not to mention, cats aren't capable of trimming their own nails, or doing much in the way of cleaning their ears. This is why it's important to have your cat regularly groomed, especially if you have a long-haired cat.
What is anal gland expression and when is it needed?
Anal gland expression is a grooming service offered to dogs. Over time, a dog's anal glands can become infected or irritated, which can cause extreme discomfort and itching. Expression of these glands provides relief to your dog and protects your pet's health. If you've noticed your pet dragging its behind on the floor, this is a sign that anal gland expression is needed.
Why shouldn't I clip or trim my pet's nails at home?
Trimming your pet's nails at home can be dangerous if you're not completely confident in your abilities. This is especially true for pets with darker-colored nails, where the quick of the nail may not be visible. If you cut past the quick, you'll cause bleeding and pain for your pet. This is why we recommend professional nail trimming services, which you can have done here in our office.
What if my pet has sensitive skin?
At Fairview Hospital for Animals, we use only pet-friendly and hypo-allergenic grooming products, so even pets with sensitive skin can enjoy a comfortable and relaxing grooming experience.

Services & More
I visit Fairview Animal Hospital at least once a week for a few of my fur-babies to receive laser therapy and the ENTIRE staff always shows genuine concern for my babies as well as me. They are always completely honest in the care they believe my pets need and only suggest treatments that they firmly believe would help my babies comfort. I have six dogs and two cats who all have their own issues and they know them all by name, know what their problems are and cater to their individual needs. The best part of this staff, is that every single one of my babies thoroughly enjoys their visits which is most important to me.
