Here at Fairview Animal Hospital, we perform routine and emergency surgeries for cats and dogs, and you can feel confident that your pet will be treated well before, during and after their surgery because we provide IV fluids, advanced monitoring, pet friendly anesthesia and pain medications. If additional tests are need before or after the surgery, we can perform them in our in-house laboratory so that you can get the results faster.
Spay and Neuter
Spaying and Neutering are two of our most common surgeries. Sterilizing your pet prevents homeless and unwanted animals and improves your pet’s quality of life by decreasing their risk for certain infections and cancers, including bladder infections and breast or testicular cancer.
Declawing your cat is an option if your cat is an inside pet. This prevent them from damaging furniture, screens, carpets and other objects, but it also removes their primary defense, which is why we only recommend declawing for inside cats. Declawing removes the entire third knuckle from each other your cat’s from toes. This removes the claw and ensures it will not regrow.
Foreign Object Removal
Dogs and cats have a tendency to eat items that are not food and not digestible. These items can get stuck in your pet’s stomach and/or intestines, causing severe complications. Our veterinarians can perform imaging tests to locate the foreign objects in your pet’s digestive system and remove those objects via surgery.
Our Decatur veterinarians can repair broken bones, ligaments and tendons in your dog’s or cat’s legs and feet. These surgeries are needed when your pet accidentally breaks a bone or damages a ligament in one of their joints, which helps prevent permanent lameness and pain so that your pet can continue his or her active, happy lifestyle.
Skin Abscesses and Masses
Cats and especially dogs are prone to developing skin masses and abscesses. In 85 percent of these cases, the mass is not cancerous, but they do have a tendency to continue to grow, which can impede your pet’s movement and become uncomfortable. Our veterinarians can successfully remove these masses and alleviate your pet’s discomfort. We will also test the mass for cancerous cells to ensure your pet’s continued health.
We perform all types of emergency surgeries for when your beloved pet gets severely ill or injured. We can perform surgical wound closures and set and surgically repair broken bones. We can also administer IV fluids and pain killers to make your pet more comfortable and increase the odds of your pet making a full recovery.
In the event of a pet emergency, please call our hospital for emergency enroute care advice and to alert us to your emergency. This will allow us to be ready when you arrive. We also have staff on stand-by for emergency walk-ins.

Services & More
I visit Fairview Animal Hospital at least once a week for a few of my fur-babies to receive laser therapy and the ENTIRE staff always shows genuine concern for my babies as well as me. They are always completely honest in the care they believe my pets need and only suggest treatments that they firmly believe would help my babies comfort. I have six dogs and two cats who all have their own issues and they know them all by name, know what their problems are and cater to their individual needs. The best part of this staff, is that every single one of my babies thoroughly enjoys their visits which is most important to me.
