While you may enjoy traveling with your pet when circumstances permit, once in a while you may have to leave him at home so you can attend a conference or go on vacation. Your pet may get bored or restless without the daily human companionship and playtime he usually receives. Meanwhile you may find yourself wondering how he is doing, even if you've left him in the hands of a well-intentioned pet sitter you trust, such as a friend or neighbor. At times like these, nothing beats the knowledge that your pet is being cared for by an experienced professional, especially if that professional is also a veterinarian. That is why we offer Decatur dog boarding and cat boarding among our pet care services at Fairview Hospital for Animals.
Pets whose lives are suddenly disrupted can become quite a handful for the amateur caregiver. Some of them may grow anxious or frustrated at being alone most of the day and run out of the door as soon as it opens. Proper care can be particularly tricky if your pet has special medical needs. Older or chronically ill animals may require precisely measured daily doses of various medications, and your friend of neighbor may not be able to provide that level of attentive care. Even a professional pet sitter may only be present some of the time.
Veterinary pet boarding in Decatur makes these issues much easier. Our climate-controlled boarding facilities are staffed by trained, caring professionals who know how to handle any kind of veterinary situation. We are experienced at administering medications and providing extra care for boarders who need it. If an emergency happens, we’re right there to cope with it calmly and skillfully. We also see to your pet’s emotional needs by providing plenty of daily interaction and affection, treating him as if he were a member of our own family. In fact, we encourage you to supply us with his favorite toys and treats so we can make him feel completely at home.
We offer both dog boarding and cat boarding at our veterinary hospital. At the same time, however, we recognize that the two species have different environmental needs. Cats can be unnerved by the close presence of large, barking dogs, so we give them their own "cat condos" where they can enjoy their stay in peace. Dogs require a certain amount of activity and exercise, so we make sure they get plenty of fun time.
At our Decatur dog boarding and cat boarding facility, we require that all boarders are parasite free (including ticks and fleas). We also require that cats are vaccinated for Rabies and Feline Distemper and dogs are vaccinated for Rabies, Distemper/Parvovirus/Leptospirosis 4, and Bordetella. In order not to be charged a fee, we must receive at least 72 hours notice of cancellation of boarding reservations. For holiday boarding, there is a no cancellation policy that states once you make the reservation you will be charged for the cage regardless of whether you board your pet or not. Holidays affected by this no cancellation policy include New Years, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Services & More
I visit Fairview Animal Hospital at least once a week for a few of my fur-babies to receive laser therapy and the ENTIRE staff always shows genuine concern for my babies as well as me. They are always completely honest in the care they believe my pets need and only suggest treatments that they firmly believe would help my babies comfort. I have six dogs and two cats who all have their own issues and they know them all by name, know what their problems are and cater to their individual needs. The best part of this staff, is that every single one of my babies thoroughly enjoys their visits which is most important to me.
