Our team is led by husband and wife veterinarians, Dr. Shelly Stevens and Dr. Robert Groesch, who purchased the practice in 1989 and moved it to our present location in 2007 so they could provide high-tech care in a caring environment. Dr. Stevens has a special interest in pet ophthalmology, pet dermatology and endocrinology while Dr. Groesch focuses on animal surgery. Together they set the standard for our high level of care and make sure all of our team members have the right training and experience to uphold the pet hospital’s high level of care. When not taking care of your pet’s needs at our hospital, they are at home with their three children, two dogs and one cat.
Shelly Stevens, DVM I earned my DVM degree from the University of Illinois in 1982. After practicing for 3 years in a Chicago suburb, my husband, Dr. Groesch and I moved downstate to be closer to our family. We purchased Fairview Hospital for Animals in 1989 and built a new facility in 2006. My special interests are ophthamology, dermatology and endocrinology. I am the proud mother of three children, two dogs and one cat.
Robert Groesch, DVM I am a University of Illinois alumni. My undergraduate was in Agricultural Science and Animal Science and I received my DVM degree in 1982. I worked in Arlington Heights in a busy 6 doctor practice before moving to Decatur. In 1989, my wife, Dr. Stevens, and I purchased Fairview Hospital for Animals. My special interests are animal surgery, soccer and my Norton Commando motorcycle.
Beth Tatum, our Office Manager and receptionist, started working in our kennels in 1999 before moving into the front office. Splitting her time between office manager and receptionist, she still has the opportunity to spend time welcoming pets and pet owners to our practice. She works to make sure our animal hospital is warm and welcoming, and also serves as a certified Hill’s Veterinary Nutritional Advocate. Beth is married, with two children, and two dogs.
Emilie Bublitz, our receptionist, joined us in January 2015. She began working in the kennels but moved to reception in August. She received her Bachelor's in Microbiology. She uses this knowledge daily in many aspects of her job. She enjoys helping clients feel like a priority and having a comfortable experience. She also serves as a certified Hill's Veterinary Nutritional Advocate. She has 1 cat.
Ann Diller, our receptionist, joined our team in August 2016 but she has over 40 years experience in the veterinary field. She enjoys meeting and interacting with our clients and their pets. She also serves as a certified Hill's Veterinary Nutritional Advocate. She has 1 son, 3 dogs, 1 cat and 3 cockatiels.
Amanda Bohn, our exam room assistant, joined our team in November 2015 as a kennel technician. But she was a part of the Fairview family before that as a client. She has cared for pets since she got her first pet at age 5. She was promoted to exam room assistant in November 2016. She enjoys coming to work and being around the animals. She has 1 dog and 1 cat.
Dena Doty, our exam room assistant, joined our team in November 2016. She has over 20 years experience in the veterinary field. She enjoys working closely with owners and pets. And puppy kisses are the highlight of her day. She has 1 dog, 1 cat and an African Clawed frog.
We encourage pet owners to be involved with their pet care and aware of what is happening. Our facility was built with an open layout so you can view most procedures. You can always trust our Decatur veterinarians to provide professional and compassionate care for your pets because, at Fairview Hospital for Animals, your pets are our passion.

Services & More
I visit Fairview Animal Hospital at least once a week for a few of my fur-babies to receive laser therapy and the ENTIRE staff always shows genuine concern for my babies as well as me. They are always completely honest in the care they believe my pets need and only suggest treatments that they firmly believe would help my babies comfort. I have six dogs and two cats who all have their own issues and they know them all by name, know what their problems are and cater to their individual needs. The best part of this staff, is that every single one of my babies thoroughly enjoys their visits which is most important to me.
